A play that takes as its starting point the moment of "applause at eight o'clock in the evening" to focus on our human need to experience shared moments without screens in between. (Madrid Community Theatre Network Tour in 2021)

"There is nothing more decidedly theatrical than a balcony overlooking an auditorium. From this starting point, Jorge Jimeno challenges us in the most brilliant and unsettling way to pose what I consider the crucial question: what to do with our bodies where they can only be either superfluous or threatening." Santiago Alba Rico

Two characters confined to their balconies find in the gaze of the spectators the strength to break the barriers that separate them from the auditorium, with the burning desire to celebrate that communion of bodies that is the theater... and life.

Synopsis

It's eight in the evening. The residents come to their windows. On stage, a man applauds enthusiastically from his balcony. His neighbor watches him skeptically from hers. The auditorium is full of neighbors who applaud with theatrical solemnity. When the applause dies down, routine returns to the neighborhood. The neighbors hide, but the spectators remain in their seats.

Jorge is a good neighbor until a human impulse makes him break the rules. He only wanted to help Ana, and now they are both forced to make a decision that will change their lives forever.

A stage proposal that engages in dialogue about audience participation; a proposal that walks the fine line between theater and life, between art and reality; a proposal that questions whether it is possible to maintain applause beyond the auditorium, beyond eight o'clock in the evening.

Genre: Theatre. Style: Comedy. Duration: 70 min.
