BEING A FESTIVAL (A stage piece for two actresses, a musician, and a streetwalker) The play begins with a fictional encounter between two real women: Priscilla Presley and La Chispa (Dolores Montoya), Camarón de la Isla's wife. Both, figures historically overshadowed by the myths with which they shared their lives, meet in an undefined setting, oscillating between the dreamlike, the theatrical, and the real. Priscilla, in a moment of personal crisis, travels to San Fernando (Cádiz) to the Camarón museum, seeking answers. What she finds is another woman who also knows what it means to inhabit the periphery of myth. Together they wander through the city, encountering and parting ways with each other and with themselves. An exploration of what remains when the light of myth fades, and how, on the margins of history, the possibility of another way of being in the world sometimes opens up. Alongside them appear two key figures: a musician on stage, who delicately weaves together the sounds, and a hybrid character between narrator, master of ceremonies and festive specter: the verbenero whore, guide between the worlds.
