The Great Ladies of Jazz is a musical lecture that explores the lives and works of the great voices of American jazz between the 1930s and 1960s. The aim is to bring the audience closer to the story of these artists who did not have it easy in a musical world dominated by men.
In a guitar and voice format, part spoken and part sung, we present the most emblematic songs of the great jazz vocalists, such as Ella Fitzgerald and Sara Vaghaun. We share the anecdotes and stories that accompanied this era of music and invite you on a journey to New Orleans or Harlem in the 1950s.
Ana Silva , born in Palencia and based in Segovia, a great lover of jazz and Brazilian music, has been perfecting her vocal technique since 2017 with the help of soprano Mª Henar Cabrero de la Calle.
Márcio Costa , a Brazilian guitarist based in Segovia since 2017, has been developing his professional career in Brazil since the 1980s. A graduate in music from the Universidade de Vale do Rio Verde (Brazil), he has toured Brazil and collaborated with groups from the USA and Spain.
All performances will be held in the library's auditorium.
Free entry until capacity is reached.
