World Poetry Day is celebrated every year on March 21, as proposed by UNESCO at the 30th General Conference in Paris in 1999:

"World Poetry Day is an occasion to honour poets, revive oral traditions of poetry recitals, promote the reading, writing and teaching of poetry, foster convergence between poetry and other arts such as theatre, dance, music and painting, and increase the visibility of poetry in the media" (UNESCO).

At the Segovia Public Library, we will celebrate this anniversary on March 20th with a public poetry reading. We invite everyone interested to choose a poem to read; it can be one of your own or by another author.

The event will take place on March 20th in the Library's Auditorium at 7:00 PM.

Registration : To participate, you must call 921463533 or register in person at the Library's loan desk.

Each participant will have a maximum reading time of 3 minutes.

Registration period: March 6-18.
