KLASSICFEST 2026: back in Madrid and the Royal Site of San Ildefonso, March-April 2026
KLASSICFEST 2026 returns with a new edition, organized by the Katarina Gurska Foundation and the Katarina Gurska Higher Center (CSKG), in collaboration with the City Council of the Royal Site of San Ildefonso. The festival brings together established performers and young talents associated with the Foundation in concerts of chamber music, piano, vocal, and orchestral music.
PROGRAMMING IN MADRID
- March 20, 7:30 p.m. | CSKG Auditorium. From East to West. Japanese pianist Shizuka Shimoyama , renowned for her mastery of the Spanish and Latin American repertoire, will open the festival with a recital featuring works from diverse musical traditions.
- March 27, 7:30 p.m. | El Salvador Protestant Church. The Verbum in Cruce Vocal Ensemble CSKG, directed by Nuria Fernández Herranz and accompanied by organist Bruno Vlahek, will perform Les Sept paroles du Christ sur la Croix by César Franck and Stabat Mater by Josef Gabriel Rheinberger . Free admission until capacity is reached.
- April 10 | International Institute of Madrid . Musical Moments. Pianist Álvaro Fernández Bravo, associated with the Katarina Gurska Foundation, who continues his training abroad and has accumulated outstanding successes, will offer a recital with a romantic program.
- April 17, 7:30 p.m. | Chapel of the Museum of the History of Madrid. Baroque Echoes. The CSKG Flute Orchestra, under the direction of Juanjo Hernández, will perform works by Loeillet, Pepush, and Schickhardt.
PROGRAMMING AT THE ROYAL SITE OF SAN ILDEFONSO
- March 22, 12:30 | Canónigos Theatre. Resonances of the Soul . With cellist Pedro Bonet and pianist Belén González , a concert that combines virtuosity and expressiveness in the chamber repertoire with works by Beethoven, Franck and the contemporary Spanish composer David del Puerto.
- March 29, 12:30 | Canónigos Theatre. Violin Dialogues: A musical encounter between the young violinist Jaime Naya and the pianist Andrey Yaroshinsky , representing a dialogue between generations of performers. Works by Beethoven, Britten, and Schumann's Violin Sonata No. 2.
- April 12, 12:30 | Canónigos Theatre. Jam On Trio in Chamber Saxophones . Formed by saxophonists Alberto Bravo and Martín Fernández and pianist Javier Seijo, the trio will perform works by Glinka, Shostakovich, Connesson and Jean-Baptiste Singelée.
- April 19, 12:30 | Canonigos Theater. From the Classic to the Present With the Real Sitio Orchestra , under the direction of Alberto Aneiros and Héctor Duarte, the program will include premieres by Diego Arévalos (The Challenge of Nemrod) and Guillermo García-Valdecasas (Jazz a la Suite), with the participation of soloists Alejandro Millán, Santiago Navas Ochoa and Carlos Olivas Marqués.
