In the pages of "Segovia in the 21st Century," readers will find a collection of chronicles published in Segovian newspapers. These are commentaries on diverse topics, all written in response to current events. A collection of 300 vignettes on varied subjects, reflecting the daily flow of "works and days" (Hesiod) over the last 30 years. These brief narratives describe events in city life, occasionally seasoned with gentle criticism, not always political in nature. Criticisms and opinions are always expressed with personal respect and a constructive purpose, without personal attacks or settling of scores. This collection of chronicles reflects the sentiment of the people, from the personal perspective of an occasional chronicler, free from constraints or commitments, but aware of the limitations inherent in the task. These "Urban Chronicles" may suggest some useful guidance to those who manage public affairs, which so greatly affect citizens, to whom nothing urban should be foreign.
