Day dedicated to the filmmaker Jesús Franco Manera, artistically known as Jesús Franco or Jess Franco (Málaga, May 12, 1930-Málaga, April 2, 2013).

From Wednesday, March 25th to Saturday, March 28th, a sculpture containing the ashes of the Spanish filmmaker, created by Domingo Sánchez Blanco, will be on display at the library entrance. Alongside the sculpture, visitors can view the previously unreleased video about the Spanish filmmaker , "Smoke Signals," and explore the works available in the library's collections.

Under the general title "Man invented death" , the library will host a panel discussion on Saturday, March 28, starting at 12:00 pm, with the participation of:

  • Domingo Sánchez Blanco (artist from Salamanca), "What's happening now with the present?"
  • Fernando Castro Flórez (professor of philosophy and art critic and the director), "Lecture for a Dead Man"
  • Kike Mesa ( film producer), "Experiences with a plate of prawns"

Following this, a funeral procession will take place, destined for the Morille Art Cemetery (Museum-Mausoleum), where Jess Franco's ashes will be interred. In this way, the filmmaker's remains will become part of a space of recognized artistic value linked to avant-garde art.
