On Thursday, May 28th, at 7 p.m. with Quiquemago.
The Magic Quixote Concert is an innovative show designed specifically for school and family audiences that deals with the wonderful parallels between literature, music and magic.
The novel "The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha" is the most universal work of Spanish literature, translated into all major languages. Its immense influence extends to writers such as Shakespeare, filmmakers such as Orson Welles, painters such as Goya and Picasso, and a long list of composers such as Ravel, Telemann, Purcell, Strauss, and Massenet, who drew inspiration from the novel to compose some of their most celebrated works.
We are faced with a work that has marked a turning point in the history of art and in the human mindset, as it embodies a new vision of life in the Renaissance, coinciding with the Golden Age of Spanish literature, the 16th century. Things are not what they seem; this is a characteristic and uniquely Cervantine theme.
The concert highlights how striking it is that Miguel de Cervantes resorted to magic when writing his Don Quixote; La Maga Urganda, capable of changing her outward appearance and divining the future; Felicia La Sabia, possessor of magic books and enchanted waters; even Merlin himself predicted the adventures of the knight from La Mancha and appeared to him to tell him how to disenchant the peerless Dulcinea del Toboso; healing potions such as the Oil of Aparicio, the Balm of Fierabás, magic swords, talismans against melancholy, gigantic windmills, armies of lambs, Clavileño the flying horse, sorcerers with wings..., are just some of the many magical moments that appear in the novel.
Free admission until full capacity.
