On Friday, May 8th at 7:00 p.m. , in the Auditorium of the Palencia Public Library , Eolas Ediciones will host a literary event featuring the presentation of the book "The Poetry and Music of Joaquín Sabina: An Angel with Black Wings" by Daniel J. Nappo. The event will also include a special performance by Reverend Escobar .

Daniel J. Nappo wrote the first book in English about Joaquín Sabina, offering an overview of his life and work as a poet and singer-songwriter. From the interest it generated among English-speaking audiences, this Spanish translation has now emerged. Written in an accessible style, the book, *The Poetry and Music of Joaquín Sabina: An Angel with Black Wings*, is also a rigorous study that contributes to the burgeoning field of Spanish popular music studies. After presenting the essentials of Sabina's biography, Nappo offers a valuable analysis of the poetic and narrative elements of his lyrics and concludes with a vigorous and meticulous defense of Sabina against those who would see him as a mere Bob Dylan imitator. Despite his admiration for the iconic American artist, Sabina is an original creator in his own right, and his work deserves careful consideration. "Daniel J. Nappo peels back the layers of Sabina’s black wings, denying everything, even the Spanish Dylan." Like poetry with sunglasses in front of a camera, and dawn never breaks.

Free admission until full capacity.
