Juana Gallego argues that feminism has "died of its own success" because, in expanding and diversifying so much, it has generated multiple currents that sometimes contradict each other. This proliferation—white feminism, Black feminism, Islamic feminism, migrant feminism, trans feminism, etc.—has caused tensions that hinder the construction of a shared political subject: women as a collective.
The author questions who benefits from this division and suggests that certain political, economic, and ideological interests are taking advantage of the chaos to weaken the fight for equality.
Juana Gallego (Málaga, 1953) is a journalist, writer, and professor specializing in gender and communication. She has taught at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where she directed the Master's Program in Gender and Communication and the Observatory for Equality.
She is a leading figure in Spanish feminism, author of numerous essays on women and the media, and a regular contributor to the press. After her retirement, she continues to write and participate in public debates.
