On Tuesday, May 26, at 7 p.m., María Jesús Fuentes will present her book of poems.

María Jesús Fuentes was born in the province of Málaga. She holds a degree in Hispanic Philology and teaches at the IES Siete Colinas high school in Ceuta. She has written novels and poetry, and has won several literary awards. She is also a passionate advocate for poetry, giving talks and lectures, and has edited poetry periodicals, most notably the magazine Mester de Vandalía.

"To the Thread Traced by the Moon" is her latest book, a beautiful collection of poems where lovers, characters drawn from classic literature and film, converse, expressing their feelings and passions: Dulcinea and Don Quixote (Don Quixote de la Mancha), Marguerite and Armand Duval (La Dame aux Camelias), Elizabetha and Dracula (Dracula)...etc. From this loving space, full of tenderness and passion, the poems champion gender equality through dialogue, portraying the emancipation of women not from a perspective of struggle or resistance, but of love and union.
