On Wednesday, May 27 , at 7:00 p.m., in the auditorium of the Palencia Public Library, a literary meeting will take place with David Toscana, winner of the 2026 Alfaguara Novel Prize with the work The Blind Army , organized by the Ateneo bookstore of Palencia.

David Toscana (Mexico, 1961) is a prominent Mexican writer whose narrative often blends humor, tragedy, fantasy, and literary references, exploring the human condition and the fragility of power. Among his major works are Estación Tula (1995), Santa María del circo (1998), Olegaroy (2017), and El ejército ciego (2026). He studied Industrial Engineering at ITESM and attended the SOGEM writers' school. He has received grants from various institutions, and his work is considered fundamental to contemporary Mexican literature.
