'Making French toast as an act of resistance' is a 50-minute dance-theater performance that explores notions of identity, memory and tradition through contemporary dance, folklore and autofiction to reflect on themes such as historical memory, depopulated Spain or the diversity of rural identities.
"The earth is not only dust, stones, and mud, but also the hands that plowed it, the feet that danced upon it, the blood that watered it, and the stories that told it. Standing upon it, I wonder about those who once trod the same earth I now tread. What do I owe them? What do I reproach them for? What remains of them in me? In a journey through time, a personal and family history, and the space of the Tiétar Valley in Ávila, a story unfolds of reconnection with lost roots, as well as an optimistic affirmation of the subversive potential of tradition to build futures of freedom, equality, and justice."
Genre: Dance. Style: Contemporary-folk. Duration: 50 min.
Show included in the programming of the Scenic Circuits of Castilla y León.
