GALDOS AND THE FINAL JUDGMENT

Benito Pérez Galdós dies and, to his surprise, finds himself at the gates of a hell he didn't believe in. Two friendly demons try to convince him of the reality of the afterlife and announce that his own personal Last Judgment will take place right there, since heaven has outsourced this process and subcontracted Satan's organization to catch up on the souls.

Galdós will have to justify the validity of his life and work before this tribunal. To aid him in his defense, the writer summons three witnesses, specifically three allegorical figures: Literature, Woman, and Spain. With their testimonies, he manages to convince the diabolical tribunal that he has been an honest man and that his literature, through its truth and values, has done good for many.
