From June 9th to September 30th, from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., this exhibition can be visited at the Historical Archive.
Since their inclusion in the archives, notarial records have been a primary source for historical research, offering direct, authentic, and detailed testimony of the daily, economic, and social life of individuals, social groups, and institutions, allowing for a faithful reconstruction of past events. To this day, they remain the most consulted historical source.
But beyond their undeniable purpose, notarial protocols also allow us another, different, surprising reading, in which formal writing gives way to the unexpected in the form of figures or elements that attract our attention because of their harmony, beauty, exceptionality or rarity; in which the notary ceases to be a mere registrar to become a chronicler of the unusual, inevitably inviting us to a curious, intrusive look.
As if it were a 17th-century Cabinet of Curiosities , where the collector gathered exotic, scientific, and artistic objects with the purpose of surprising and fascinating, this exhibition presents itself as a Cabinet of Curiosities where the notarial protocol seeks not to leave anyone indifferent.
