A Don Juan without Doña Inés is like an egg without a yolk, like Saturn without rings, like someone who has an uncle in Granada but has neither an uncle nor anything at all. And a Doña Inés without Don Juan becomes an actress fighting to prove her worth, come what may, and if that means bringing down the ideal of Romanticism, the great seducer, brawler, and womanizer, then so be it.
