Pieces of glowing coal
Eva Carbayo Baz
VazLibros, 2026

Pieces of glowing coal is a novel about love and cooking.
Carla has spent half her life in love with a closet narcissist, the father of her children. After a painful breakup, she must find her Ikigai while trying to raise them. But it won't be easy when every choice seems to lead to further disaster. During an endless night, the protagonist reviews her life to figure out where she went wrong. And while she reminisces, she cooks, because Carla has a gift for cooking and flavors, and she associates each person with a different dish. She just needs to discover which one is hers.
Her story is a testament to self-love and the search for happiness. Along the way, she faces betrayal, heartbreak, and the loss of loved ones, but she also discovers the strength of friendship, family support, and the possibility of new love.
It's a novel that celebrates the importance of listening to yourself. A story that reminds us that, even in the darkest moments, there is always room for hope and redemption.

Eva Carbayo Baz was born in Benavente (Zamora) in 1967. After living in Valladolid, she has returned to her roots, close to nature. She obtained a Postgraduate Degree in Family Training from the University of Alcalá de Henares, and a Master's Degree in Coaching from the Camilo José Cela University.
Human support and coaching are not only his vocation, but also a reflection of a way of looking at the world: with listening, empathy and commitment.
Her writing stems from a desire to give voice to the invisible, to find answers to essential questions. And that's how this, her first novel, came about.
