Zamora Museum – "Territory Archive" is conceived as an archaeology of the present, an investigation based on the conditions that make a territory visible and legible. Initiated in 2016 and still ongoing, the project is developing a photographic archive of the natural regions of Tierra de Campos and Cerrato, which currently comprises around 25,000 images from the provinces of Palencia, Zamora, Valladolid, Leon , and Burgos. Far from being a closed inventory, it is configured as an open collection of fragments, remains, and traces.
Ayarza views the territory as a space traversed by historical, economic, and social tensions, where ruin, labor, abandonment, and resistance to change converge. The constructed archive, as a critical instrument, focuses on what has been relegated to the margins and finds particular interest in the elements lacking prestige, which introduce a clear friction with the historical density that has always characterized this space.
