OPTOMETRY VIOLET is a work to reflect, from a humorous perspective, on the sexist attitudes that we find around us and that may go unnoticed, and the tensions that can arise in a relationship after the feminist awareness that we are all beginning to have.

A play selected for the VIOLET PROGRAM of the STATE FUNDS AGAINST GENDER VIOLENCE, receiving excellent reviews from both professional critics and the general public. It has been performed in several municipalities and educational centers for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and around March 8th, as well as celebrated and programmed by groups such as the Progressive Women's Association of Retiro Park in Madrid and social action groups (CAS and CODINSE, among others), and included in the Equality catalog of the Segovia Provincial Council.

Synopsis

The mayor of Navaltortal has called a press conference to announce the poster for the town's patron saint festivities. This year, thanks to the mayor's friendship with the renowned graphic designer Adolfo Melero, the poster will bear his signature. It's a move the mayor hopes will secure his reelection, and he's keeping it a closely guarded secret.

The councillor for culture, who happens to be the mayor's ex-partner, after seeing the poster, submitted her resignation, considering it "an aberrant case of sexism and the exploitation of women's bodies."

The debate is open: is the poster funny and charming, or an attack on women's dignity?
