Since original sin, everything has been a succession of catastrophic misfortunes, all bearing the name of a woman. The stain, or mark of Eve, has imbued us all with an aura of mysticism, complexity, and other such qualities. "Daughters of Eve" speaks of the modern woman, with her strengths and weaknesses, her virtues and flaws, shaped by religious, pagan, and mythological figures represented in art, who continue to influence our character, whether consciously or unconsciously. We use artistic representations of different female figures throughout history as a reference point to define, through them, the 21st-century woman who, from director Sara Vinagrero's perspective, has been shaped by her predecessors. It is a tribute to femininity, to all the mothers, witches, prostitutes, virgins, goddesses... who have left their mark on the woman we know today. It is a call for coexistence and tolerance. In today's world... would the Virgin Mary have coffee with Aphrodite?... would the Virgin embrace Eve or Lilith?... would they join forces in a Saturday night witches' sabbath?
