Castles
Stones with legends to tell
The small fort is protagonist of the Valley of Mena.
Tower of Vallejuelo
In the depression of the Mena, we find Vallejuelo, and on the top of a hill of the crag of Horquilla, the Tower settles, even remains standing, decorating, as another protagonist, the Valley of Mena.
It's a small fort of square floor built with ashlar, joined with mortar for the walls. On the East wall there is the lintelled gateway, with three hollows of half a point and one more square, and square shaped windows.
The highest part of the small fort still maintains the loopholes. This tower is well preserved, and currently, a particular home with hipped roof is installed.
Around tower are long and thick walls which apparently comprised other towers, what makes us think about the importance of this building as a fortification centuries ago. It is a place that we can still visit and contemplate.
