It stands on the site of a former romanesque church that was demolished in the same century it was built (12th) because it was too rustic.

The ground distribution is typical among Spanish Romanesque monasteries. The cloister is a key element. It is made of ashlars and contains arcades on double arches interrupted by pillars with small columns attached.

Of particular note is the decoration of the capitals: vegetal motifs such as acanthus leaves, palms and intertwined stalks, combines with figurative ones representing various scenes from the New Testament.
