Within a short stretch of flat terrain whose shifting landscape changes as the wheat crops grow, visitors will come across a considerable number of towns and villages, each with their own churches and tales to tell.

A tour of the church in Fuentes de Año reveals the history of peninsular art between the 12th and 18th centuries. Just a short distance away, in the small town of Canales, lies a parish that conserves far more than is apparent at first sight. The route then continues to Fuente el Sáuz, where the highlight is undoubtedly the Mudejar apse of the Parish Church of Cantiveros, whilst in Flores de Ávila, the main altar boasts a series of free-standing sculptures that are well worth admiring.
