Declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and a Historic Site, this wealthy municipality in the province of Salamanca held a strategic position in the past, acting as a border between the kingdoms of León and Castile.

Some remains of the wall remain, such as the so-called "Turrión". Only one of the six towers remains of the Duke of Alba's castle-palace, the so-called Torreón de la Armería, which gives the Villa the main identity mark. It still maintains its old plot and urban spaces of great heritage value. Its religious buildings and civil architecture are recognized, not in vain, considered for their wealth as Assets of Cultural Interest. A wealth still preserved, and presented, to those who wish to discover it.
