The Semana Santa (Holy Week) of Ponferrada has the surprising element of a brother who, dressed in robes of mourning and accompanied by children, rings a bell in the street to announce the start of a procession. This character has the curious name of ‘Lambrión chupacandiles’.

At dawn on Good Friday, groups of brothers from the brotherhood of Jesús Nazareno (Jesus of Nazareth), called corredores (runners), and wearing their traditional black tunic, parade through the city streets summoning the other brothers with bugles and drums to the traditional Ponferrada procession: La Procesión del Encuentro.
