Monastery of Bernard monks, the founder and first Abbess was Doña Mencia de Lara, sister of Doña Berenguela; founded in 1190 during the prosperous reign of Alfonso VIII. Church with one nave with transept and three apses: the central polygonal one, the cloister and the room with pointed arches with interlaced capitals.

Attached to the choir in the northern wall there is a sort of hall, possibly a refectory, with four slit windows with capitals. The outside windows are reminiscent of those of Aguilar. The cloister has pointed arches placed on twin columns. One of the most important pieces of Romanesque architecture in Palencia. The great refinement and quality of the church made it a source of inspiration for numerous buildings in the region.
