The predilection during the Hispanic Middle Ages for incorporating decorative motifs of Hispanic-Muslim origin in the assembly carpentry is perfectly confirmed in examples such as that of Azares del Páramo.

Each of its eight inclined skirts contains a combination of nine- and twelve-point lasso wheels, to which is added an almizate practically covered by a cluster of golden muqarnas. The centuries that have passed since its construction towards the end of the 15th century have not erased the quality of its gold, white, azure and vermilion polychromes, nor details as curious as those included in the nine-pointed star on the eastern skirt. A reversed crescent moon, a symbol of the probable Islamic origin of its builders, is accompanied by a compass and a ruler, the two fundamental tools of the trade with which some masters represented themselves.
