Made of slate, featuring ashlar buttresses, this single-nave church has groin vaults in its three sections and two fronts. One of the fronts contains an inscription indicating the name of the person who sponsored the building of the church, Pedro Antonio de Juano, the bishop of Menorca.

The church was built on several stages: Pedro Díez finished the chancel in 1527; Lope Marquina built the nave and the transept chapels in 1540; Mentegui and Pagueta built the Epistle chapel in 1607; and the tower was erected in 1787.

The church contains a Romanesque sculpture of the patron saint, Nuestra Señora del Vado, dating from the 12th century, and some Renaissance bass-relieves, such as the 16th-century Pieta.
