DDating from the XII century, period in which Fernando II repopulated the town. They are of lime and pebble bonding and topped with crenels. Each forty meters has Albarrana towers that communicated with an anterior wall, today disappeared.

There are still many fragments of adobe walls, various castellated towers and one of the gates, the Puerta de Santa María. It is the finest medieval fortification in the province of León.
