It was founded in 1982. It was an initiative of the priest of El Sagrado Corazon de Jesus P. Ignacio Maria Belda, who along his life achieved countless geological, archaeological and ethnographic pieces, as a result of his interest for the sciences.

The museum is located in the Convent of San Jerónimo (formerly San Leonardo), an imposing set from the XV-XVI centuries made up of the convent itself with two cloisters, the church and various auxiliary units. It was rehabilitated, after centuries of neglect, by the order of the Father Repairers-Dehonians, with Father Belda at the helm who personally directed the works, starting in 1960.
The funds conserved in this museum are around 5000 pieces, although only the 400 most significant are exposed; both for its historical and artistic importance, and for its variety.
Through them you can make a complete journey through history and art, from prehistory to the Middle Ages.
