The Palenzuela Museum takes advantage of the space of the Town Hall Clock Tower, which was a large fortified gate of the second walled enclosure of the town, probably built in the 14th century. As time went by, the building became surrounded by other buildings, and served as a municipal prison, a home, and a warehouse.
