The convent of S. Francisco was founded in the twelfth century by the Duque de Lerma, favourite of king Felipe III, who was granted the Señorio de Ampudia. Of the original construction, only the late-Renaissance style church with Mudejar decoration remains.

Semi-circular, brick arches which once led to the cloister, have been preserved on the left side. The cloister has since disappeared, revealing large windows with glass and iron bars.
