It runs through the valley of the Cardeñadijo river and the southern countryside of the city of Burgos and then along the Cid's footprints route in Tierras de Lara for 51 kilometers, crossing stretches of asphalt and dirt roads. It occupies a small part of the railway line between Burgos and Cascajares de la Sierra.
