It is so called because the inhabitants used the path to attend fairs and markets of livestock in the neighbouring region. The route has great landscape value since the ascent offers good views of the valleys of Valdeon and Camaleño.

In addition, it approaches areas inhabited by the most characteristic animal species of the National Park such as bears, wolves and chamois.
