Route
From Ctra. Ledesma - Almeida to Puente Mocho

This path that runs through pasture landscape is the support for one of the historic routes in the land of Ledesma, the Bletisama Ocelo-Duri route that linked Coria with Zamora. It is a gentle walk whose objective is an idyllic valley where this "old bridge" called Mocho is located. Cross a forest of centuries-old oaks, with broom, lavender and thyme, and you may discover examples of griffon vultures, black kites, kestrels, some black storks, foxes, rabbits and hares.

Although the Mocho Bridge and the adjacent remains of the road are declared a Site of Cultural Interest due to their Roman origin, there is no unanimity among experts regarding the date of construction. Some believe that from that time only its location and the foundations that support it remain. There are those who think that the appearance it presents belongs to reforms carried out in the Middle Ages, a period in which the use of this route was strengthened, but others believe that its current appearance is due to transformations in modern times. In recent times its foundations have been improved as well as the parapet, which in some sections was already practically non-existent, has been rebuilt.

The origin of the name of the bridge is equally uncertain, surely it is a representation of the state of destruction that it suffered at some point.
