Cervantes: a sound image
The relationship between music and history is a constant in Diego Fernández Magdaleno's programs, generating great interest precisely because of this connection, which gives us a broader understanding of the proposed topic and also reveals new facets of the pianist and writer who carries it out meticulously.
There is a long tradition of musical portraits that play with the most identifiable and transmissible aspects through sounds.
This program aims to create a cultural portrait of Cervantes, an image not only of his life but also of the context in which he lived and the mark he left throughout history, right up to the present day. It presents an image of Cervantes through references to the music his father might have played on the vihuela, to music published in Valladolid at the time, to music found among the papers of Isabel de Valois… and even to contemporary perspectives on the figure and characters in his works. It is a vision of his face through all the evocative power that music can generate, presented by Diego Fernández Magdaleno with his characteristic depth and artistic rigor. (María Bosch)
