This is the name given to de Monday following Easter, reminding us of the times when, by Philip II order, the prostitutes were restrained to a brothel set up in the other side of the river during Lent. The "Lunes de Aguas" this ban was lifted and the prostitutes returned by boat to the city.

Waiting for them to return, the students of Salamanca gathered together along the river banks and on the Roman bridge and organized popular picnics in which the famous "hornazo", pie stuffed with sausage and boiled eggs, was never missing.

Nowadays the tradition is still kept alive just as a picnic with "hornazo" along Tormes river.
