Holy Week in Burgos is another reason to visit this city. The origins of most of the brotherhoods that take part in this spectacular Holy Week date back to the Middle Ages, and are associated with the traditional guilds: silversmiths, shoemakers, plasterers, market gardeners, tanners, etc.

Over the years, new brotherhoods have appeared, moved by a sense of penance as well as with the more traditional motives, namely to help the brothers in times of hardship, illness and death and, of course, to commemorate the Passion of Christ.
