The works of the early Cistercian construction end around 1350. In the second half of the XVI century major reforms were carried out, leaving little of the original monastery. Of the monastery stands out the cloister of three heights, completed in 1596 and unique with this height at that time. The external appearance of the set is of great austerity, standing a robust brick bell gable.

The church has a single nave with sail vault of three floors, divided by semicircular granite arches. The chevet is covered with lowered dome of half and twenty ribs. In the early XVII century the choir will be expand, following the traces of the style of Francisco de Mora. The altarpiece of the carver Manuel Escobado (late XVIII century) stands out. Much loved by Queen Isabel de Castilla, in it the empress Isabel and his son Felipe II in his childhood, and then Felipe III with his wife will spend long periods.
