Avila Museum. The small everyday things are also part of our history and therefore contribute to our historical heritage. They are not monumental or artistic in nature, but they also shape our cultural identity, directly connecting with Unamunian's concept of intrahistory.

On this occasion, we highlight a group of pieces from the first half of the 20th century, recently donated to the museum. They speak of customs, everyday activities, and hobbies, and are directly linked to the commercial activity of the city and province at that time. Unlike objects of so-called popular culture, which were usually manufactured in the communities themselves, these objects are already industrial in nature and require the intermediation of a merchant for their acquisition. This, along with markets, primarily operates in shops, both general and specialized, which thus become one of the key protagonists of the traditional urban landscape of our cities. The traditional shop is the spatial manifestation of a large part of our community's inner history.

The pieces will be presented with a conference by Jesús María Sanchidrián Gallego, Official Chronicler of Avila, entitled "Society and commercial life", on July 10, at 7:00 p.m., at the Casa de los Deanes, with free admission until full capacity and streaming on the EE TEMPORARY EXHIBITION: "THE MAGIC HANDS"This link will open in a pop-up window.
