Michelangelo Pistoletto (Biella, 1933) is considered one of the most singular voices of the second half of the 20th century. He began his artistic training in the studio of his father, a painter and restorer, where he started working at the age of fourteen. From Turin, in the 1960s, he participated in one of the most fruitful periods in the development of contemporary art. It was then that his ideas about the mirror took shape with the beginning of his Quadri specchianti [Mirroring Paintings]. The exhibition SPAZIO LIBERO explores this notion, that of the mirror, and also the redefinition of perspective—both rooted in phenomenology—throughout his career, as a concept that permeates his work.

In recent years, access to housing, the difficulty of becoming independent, rural depopulation, internal and external migration, and the transformation of cohabitation models have profoundly redefined what it means to inhabit a space. Intense and prolonged periods of cohabitation—whether due to economic pressures, social dynamics, or personal circumstances—have revealed tensions, contradictions, and vulnerabilities inherent in the idea of ​​home. For some, it is a place of refuge and security; for others, it can become a space of limitation, precariousness, or exclusion.
