An insight into León
Museum of Leon
The Museum of León, the oldest of the province’s museums, provides a detailed vision of its history, culture and heritage through a wide range of materials and objects covering the areas of archaeology, history of art, ethnography and other cultural manifestations, offering an insight into the various periods of human activity in these lands.
A space that allows visitors to discover the province of León’s vast cultural heritage through excellent, carefully-selected collections of exhibits covering an extensive period, from the Palaeolithic Age to the present day, with a particular focus on the period of Roman occupation and the Middle Ages.
Edificios
Following several decades without a permanent home, the museum now boasts two locations: the first in the main ‘Pallarés’ building, and a second in the monumental annex or historical centre of the Convent of San Marcos. It also has an archaeological annex: the Roman villa of Navatejera, situated in the municipality of Villaquilambre.
