Nestled in the foothills of the Sierra de Sesnández, Abejera de Tábara is a picturesque village steeped in centuries of history. Its traditional stone architecture and livestock pens transport us to the past. A place where nature and tradition intertwine. And among these traditions, we find a unique masquerade: Los Cencerrones, which takes place on New Year's Day. Declared a Festival of Tourist Interest of Castilla y León in 2025.

Every January 1st, the town square of Abejera transforms into the stage for an epic battle between good and evil, a tradition brought to life by the Obisparra Alistana. Seven characters unleash a festive chaos filled with fights, chases, ash, cowbells, and laughter, as the Cencerrón, the Filandorra, the Blind Man, the Molacillo, the Gypsy, and the Poor Men star in this age-old street theater. The playful request for Christmas gifts and the traditional songs sung to the rhythm of the cowbells are also part of the spectacle. This unique performance reflects the joyful and welcoming spirit of the local people.
