Le Canal de Castilla abandonne la capitale pour se diriger vers Villamuriel de Cerrato où apparaît l'écluse numéro 33 avant d'entrer dans la ville. Le Canal laisse à son passage à Villamuriel trois nouveaux aqueducs ; celui de El Cigarral, celui de Prado Redondo et celui de El Corral.

Villamuriel de Cerrato est aujourd'hui une ville industrielle qui comprend un peu plus d'une centaine d'entreprises mais qui garde son passé intact. C'est vers le XIIe siècle que la ville atteint son apogée. La Iglesia de Santa María la Mayor, qui appartenait à l'ordre des Templiers et qui était la demeure épiscopale, date du XIIIe siècle.
