The beautiful Burgos town of Gumiel de Izán has been located on the banks of the Gromejón River, a peaceful tributary of the Duero, since Roman times.

This town has a rich artistic heritage in the facades and interiors of its multiple religious temples, with the Gothic church of Santa María being the most important monument in Gumiel.
