The La Recuelga mining and industrial washing complex is an old mining facility located in the north of the province of Leon, in the town of Santa Cruz del Sil (Páramo del Sil). The site is made up of the facilities that integrated the industrial sidings of the Ponferrada- Villablino railway line, which was associated with the unloading station for the mining funiculars, railway loading docks and coal washing facilities. Its construction dates back to 1945-1948 and was promoted by the company Antracitas de Fabero SA and Victoriano González. It is a project that aimed to respond to the progressive demand for coal, which was supported by the parallel mechanization of the mining operations. These facilities came to constitute a paradigmatic example of the technological innovation of the mining sector under the Franco dictatorship.
