An architectural ensemble of Spain's industrial history that has its origins in the early 20th century, with the construction of the original building dating back to 1920. The thermal power station and its surroundings, the regions of Bierzo and Laciana, are witnesses to the industrialisation undertaken around coal mining in the first half of the 20th century, the communications system generated by this process with the start-up of the Ponferrada-Villablino railway in 1919, and the beginning of the large-scale electrification undertaken mainly in the forties of the 20th century.
