Founded by Pedro López de Padilla and his wife Isabel Pacheco Padilla in 1477. The original manuscript of the Cantar de Mío Cid (epic poem celebrating El Cid's heroic deeds) was in the convent for some time.

Benedictine monastery. The church and Gothic cloister, from the 15th century, can be visited. There is a notable Gothic carved figure of the Virgin.
