It is one of the fortresses that belonged to the Count of Luna, with a characteristic architectural style featuring a square floor plan and masonry construction, except at the corners, whose edges were built of ashlar stone. The keep and the crenellations of the walls are preserved.

It was erected in the 13th century, although what can be seen today is the reconstruction carried out in the 15th century by Don Diego Fernández de Quiñones and Doña María de Toledo.

A museum has been created inside the keep of Laguna de Negrillos Castle. The Keep Museum and Viewpoint of Laguna de Negrillos Castle showcases the history and culture of the town. It traces the origins of the castle and the town itself to the present day, including cultural and folkloric traditions such as Corpus Christi with its dancers and traditional costumes, and the harsh rural life faced by the town's ancestors. The viewpoint offers the best views of the entire Páramo Leonés region.
