The Neolithic fortified settlement of Irueña
This site from the second Iron Age is located in a prominent flat surface jetty formed by the confluence of the Águeda river with the Rolloso stream. The castro of veton origin, which had a slate masonry wall surrounding its entire perimeter, about 2 km., Named the Irueña dam of the Águeda river with its name.
Remains have been found confirming that it continued to be inhabited after Romanization and also in medieval times.
In the works carried out in the area, it was possible to recover a zoomorphic sculpture known as the Yegua de Irueña, although in reality it is a bovine, one of the characteristic boars of the Veton culture.
